Amazon Hiring 300,000 Workers for Holiday SHOPPING Rush

Amazon announced plans to hire more than 300,000 workers across the United States for the 2026 holiday shopping season — its largest seasonal hiring push in three years — with positions available in fulfillment centers, sortation facilities, delivery stations, and customer service, paying between $18 and $22 per hour depending on role and location, with full-time, part-time, and flexible scheduling options available.

The announcement covers positions across Amazon's nationwide logistics network in all 50 states. Fulfillment center roles — the large warehouse facilities where products are picked, packed, and prepared for shipment — represent the largest single category of openings. Delivery station jobs, which involve sorting packages for last-mile delivery, represent the second largest group. A smaller number of customer service positions will be filled as well. The company said the majority of openings can accept applicants with no prior experience and that training is provided on the job, making the positions accessible to a broad range of job seekers including recent high school graduates, college students, and people re-entering the workforce. Amazon said the average hourly wage across all seasonal positions is $19 per hour — above the current federal minimum wage of $7.25 and competitive with or above the starting wages offered by major retail competitors including Walmart, Target, and UPS, all of which have also announced seasonal hiring pushes for the holiday period. The company said seasonal workers who perform well are frequently offered regular employment after the holiday season concludes, and that a significant percentage of Amazon's current full-time workforce began in seasonal roles.

"We're excited to bring on more than 300,000 people to help deliver for customers this holiday season. These are good-paying jobs with great benefits, and we hope this is just the beginning for many of them at Amazon." — Amazon spokesperson statement on the 2026 seasonal hiring announcement

The announcement comes as Amazon prepares for a holiday season that will include its October Prime Big Deal Days event earlier this week, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday — a period that typically represents the single largest sustained surge in package volume for any retailer in the world. Amazon shipped approximately 5.9 billion packages in 2025, a figure the company expects to grow again in 2026 as its Prime membership base and drone delivery expansion continue adding volume across its network. The 300,000 seasonal positions represent approximately 8% of Amazon's current total U.S. workforce of approximately 3.7 million employees — a significant expansion that the company's logistics operations require to handle peak holiday demand without service degradation.

The hiring announcement is also a meaningful economic data point in the context of the November 3 midterm elections, now just four days away. Both parties have focused on job creation and wages as central economic messages. Amazon's announcement — 300,000 positions at wages above the federal minimum, available immediately, without prior experience required — is the kind of private sector employment expansion that neither political party can claim exclusive credit for but both will attempt to characterize to their advantage in the final days of campaigning.

Interested applicants can apply at Amazon.jobs, where positions are searchable by zip code, job type, and shift preference. Full-time seasonal employees are eligible for Amazon's medical, dental, and vision benefits from the first day of employment. Part-time seasonal employees working 20 or more hours per week become eligible for benefits after 90 days. Amazon said it will conduct hiring events at facilities across the country through the end of November for applicants who prefer in-person application and orientation processes.

Three hundred thousand jobs at an average of $19 per hour, available immediately, in all 50 states, with no experience required — that is the kind of employment announcement that actually matters to American families looking for work ahead of the holidays. Amazon's logistics network has become, in a relatively short period, one of the largest employers in the country. Whatever one's views on the company's market position, its labor practices, or its effect on retail competition, the jobs it is creating in warehouses and delivery stations across the country are real, the wages are above minimum, and the path from seasonal to permanent employment is documented. People who need work before the end of the year should apply.
